Directions time!

Now that invitations have been sent off and RSVP's are beginning (fingers crossed) to come in, we figured that it was a good idea to let you all in on a little secret: how to get to the wedding. We've gone ahead and made a map showing the event location, the hotels we recommended, transit lines, and the nearest garage to the reception. If you are staying at any of the hotels shown on the map, the best thing for you to do is to take the Portland Streetcar (which stops immediately outside of the Ecotrust building (NW 10th & NW Johnson). I think it is $1.70, but no one has ever seen a fare inspector. Risk it.

From the Mark Spencer Hotel or the ACE Hotel, simply walk down Stark to SW 10th Ave, cross the street and get on the streetcar at the corner stop. Ride. Hop off at NW Johnson and NW 10th.

From the Park Lane Suites, it is a little bit trickier (but not much, which shows how small and easily navigable Portland is). You'll need to circumnavigate PGE park (seen on the map) to get to the MAX stop at PGE park. From the hotel, take a right and proceed up SW King and take a left on SW Taylor. Follow SW Taylor until it runs into SW 21st and take a right. Take the next left onto SW Salmon and continue down the hill to SW 18th, where you will see a MAX stop in the middle of the road. Make sure you board the MAX in the direction of City Center, Airport or Gresham - all will take you downtown. Avoid the Beaverton/Hillsboro lines. Ride until the "Library/SW 9th" stop. Make sure to get off of the MAX, walk one block up to SW 10th and board the streetcar at the corner of SW 10th and SW Yamhill, outside of Finnegan's Toys. Ride the streetcar down to the stop at NW Johnson and NW 10th.

If my directions are too convoluted or too cursory, the public transit in town - TriMet - has an excellent tool called the Trip Planner, which gives you directions complete with transfer instructions to get you to your location by the desired time. If you'd like to use this feature, the address for Ecotrust is:

721 NW 9th Avenue
Portland, Oregon 97209

Alternatively, if you are planning on driving, this is how to go:
From the North:
»I-5 South »I-405 South
»Exit #2B - Everett Street
»Left onto NW Everett Street
»Left onto NW 10th Avenue

From the East/Airport
(11 miles, 23 minutes):
»Airport Way »I-205 South
»I-84 West »I-5 North
»I-405 Fremont Bridge
»Exit #2B - Everett Street
»Left onto NW Everett Street
»Left onto NW 10th Avenue

From the South:
»I-5 North »I-405 North
»Exit #2B - Everett Street
»Right onto NW Everett Street
»Left onto NW 10th Avenue

From the West:
»US-26 East (Sunset Highway)
»North on I-405
»Exit #2B - Everett Street
»Right onto NW Everett Street
»Left onto NW 10th Avenue

Parking can be a little sparse in the neighborhood where we are getting married. There are a lot of restaurants around, so on-street spots are at a premium. However, on the map, we've marked the nearest SmartPark (city-run) parking lot, which is only a three block walk from Ecotrust. To get there by car, however, you'll need to continue down 10th, across Lovejoy, taking a right on Marshall and continuing until you see the garage entrance on your right.

If you still don't trust us (or maybe have a poor sense of direction), the official directions provided by Ecotrust can be found here.

Happy travels. Bring a compass.

Do something!

A lot of you will be coming into town from all across the country, so we thought we'd keep an ever-expanding map going of our favorite Portland places, restaurants, bars, and things to do. Check back frequently, as Amanda and I will try to keep updating it - so long we don't get too bogged down in other wedding details. As we get closer to the date, we'll start to add more wedding-specific items like hotels and streetcar lines to make your visit all the better. And even if you live in town or have been to PDX before, you should still check in regularly because I think that we have pretty damn good taste in fun.

our favorite spots in PDX, wedding or otherwise

keep in touch!
